INSTAR’s test platform has its battery packs mounted on the left and right side of the vehicle via a pair of vibration damped mounts. Each mount consists of two water-jetted quarter inch aluminum plates stacked on top of each other. The bottom plate is mounted to the chassis of the vehicle by several shaft collars, while the top plate is attached to the bottom plate through four vibration dampers. Because our test vehicle has no suspension, it’s important that our battery packs be isolated from the vibrations that the rest of the kart experiences in order to reduce the risk of a battery fire and increase the longevity of our battery packs.
